Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Cagliari, 16th position with 25 points and a negative goal difference of -16
Monza, 20th position with 15 points and a negative goal difference of -25
Cagliari won the Serie A’s Week 30 on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the Unipol Domus in Cagliari, Italy. Cagliari secured a crucial 3-0 victory over Monza in their direct matchup, earning three vital points in the battle for survival. Goals were scored by Nicolas Viola, Gianluca Gaetano, and Zito Luvumbo.
With this win, Cagliari now has 29 points, placing them 14th in the standings, and they hold a 6-point cushion above the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Monza remains stuck at 15 points, trailing by 10 points from the first team outside the danger zone. The pressure mounts for the Brianza team as the threat of Serie B looms closer.

Cagliari delivered an almost flawless performance, proving to be more threatening than Monza despite not dominating possession. They quickly took the lead in the second half with a header from Viola and then managed the game while seeking additional goals to secure the win. Although they faced some late-game challenges, Davide Nicola can be pleased with the 3-0 result.
On the other hand, Nesta will be less satisfied, as Monza controlled the ball and spent time in the opponent’s half but struggled to create significant scoring chances. Now, only the numbers in the standings are keeping the Brianza team from sinking further.
The good news is for Cagliari. Why? Well, Cagliari has managed only one victory in the league since February, which came during a crucial match against Parma on February 9. Since that win, they have recorded 2 draws and 3 losses, yet they still hold a 3-point cushion above the relegation zone. Therefore, it’s time to celebrate this victory.
Cagliari will face another crucial match for survival against Empoli on Sunday, April 6, at 15. Monza, meanwhile, will play again on April 5 in a Lombard derby against Como, also at 15.
The game…
Cagliari gained the advantage in the 50th minute when Nicolas Viola scored with a well-placed header into the top left corner. The assist came from Tommaso Augello. Piccoli made a run through the center, passing the ball to Augello, who delivered a cross from the left side. Viola expertly directed his header into the net, securing the goal for the home side.

Monza is in a precarious situation. In the 74th minute, Cagliari added another goal to their tally. Gianluca Gaetano took a right-footed free kick that curled into the bottom left corner. The Sardinians increased their advantage as Gaetano’s shot from the set piece slipped past Turati at the post.

The final whistle has blown, and the game concludes! In the 92nd minute, Zito Luvumbo secured the win with a precise left-footed shot into the bottom right corner, assisted by Gianluca Gaetano. Luvumbo made a perfect run to connect with Gaetano’s pass, delivering an angled shot that left Turati with no chance, effectively sealing the match.
