L'Atalanta cambia gli interpreti, ma resta una macchina da gol inarrestabile. Priva degli infortunati Muriel e Ilicic, e con Gomez lasciato in panchina, gli uomini di Gasperini rifilano 6 gol al Brescia e arrivano a 93 gol fatti. Il numero assume il suo reale valore se confrontato alle reti realizzate dalle altre tre squadre che viaggiano al vertice della classifica: la Juventus ne ha fatte 67, Inter e Lazio 68.Il successo permette inoltre all'Atalanta di posizionarsi da sola al secondo posto con 70 punti, due in più di Inter e Lazio.

Iachini hails Fiorentina spirit after dramatic draw

Beppe Iachini praised the spirit of his Fiorentina team after they struck in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage time to secure a 1-1 draw with Hellas Verona at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday evening.

“In terms of the spirit, the intensity, the character and the desire, they gave everything right until the end and tried everything to fight back,” said Iachini in his post-match press conference. “We’re disappointed because if we’d equalised earlier we would have been able to push for the win – and perhaps we would have deserved that.”

Iachini admitted that the Viola were off the pace in the opening exchanges of the game, but insisted that the team grew into the contest and could have taken all three points had they found the net sooner
“We wanted to win the game but weren’t able to,” he said. “In the first 20 minutes we didn’t play as we’d prepared – we’d planned to play with intensity and aggression and to go and press them high up the field. We misplaced a few passes when bringing the ball out and then we should have been more alert for their goal.
“But then in the second part of the first half we improved and played better, but we lacked the final ball or the finish. After the break, we pressed Verona high and looked tight. We created chances to draw level and we could have done so earlier than we did and it give us the chance to go on and win it.”

Iachini seeking clinical streak against Verona

Beppe Iachini admitted that his Fiorentina side need to be more clinical in front of goal if they wish to take the full three points when Hellas Verona visit the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday evening.

“It’ll certainly be a difficult game, as they’ve all been since the league resumed,” said Iachini. “There are plenty of unknowns and we’re playing lots of games in a short period of time so it’s easier to draw conclusions after games then before them.

Iachini spoke positively about the team’s preparation ahead of the clash against Verona.
“We’re preparing well and the lads know that they’re up against a side that has been working together for a year,” he said. “They’ve done a great job and have had a very good season, so they’re riding a wave of enthusiasm. We’ll need to play very well across the board.
“Verona come out and press you man to man all over the pitch. We need to move quickly to find some space and show good movement both going forward and defending.”
Iachini went on to admit that Fiorentina are missing the support of the Viola faithful when playing at the Franchi, but called on his side to work extra hard to get the result regardless.
“We’re playing at home so we’ll miss our twelfth man, the fans, who always give us a massive boost,” he said. “That said, we need to make sure we are well-organised, focused and show the right attitude for the full 95 minutes. We have had more shots that most of the teams in the league and have hit the woodwork five times in five games, so we hope to have a bit more luck and to be a bit more accurate this time. In order to win football matches and pick up points, you need to be more clinical in front of goal.”

NICOLA: “STIAMO RITROVANDO L’IDENTITÀ”

“Stiamo ritrovando la nostra identità. Sappiamo che le prossime partite sono quelle per cui abbiamo lavorato tutti questi mesi, sono molto importanti perché ci danno la possibilità di conquistare qualcosa di importante. Anche questa partita non era per nulla scontata, soprattutto in questo periodo. La cosa che mi è piaciuta di più è stato rivedere la voglia di giocare e proporre gioco, come era già successo a Udine e con il Napoli. Tutto serve per salvarci: la qualità di gioco, le idee, l’identità di squadra. Tutto”. Così mister Nicola al termine della vittoria per 2-0 sulla Spal.

La prima di una serie di gare fondamentali per il raggiungimento dell’obiettivo. “Abbiamo altre sei partite da giocarci. Quando sono arrivato avrei pagato per avere la possibilità di giocarci la salvezza fino all’ultimo Stiamo capendo che è un’opportunità poterci giocare la stagione. Siamo partiti da ultimi e prima del lockdown ci siamo salvati, ora siamo ripartiti e dobbiamo salvarci nuovamente, non è facile per nessuno, ma ci proveremo fino alla fine”.
