The Roman gladiators lost the battle for a spot in the Champions League Quarterfinals.  Roma lost the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 Second Leg game on Wednesday 6 March 2019 at the Estádio do Dragão in Porto, Portugal.   The First Leg ended AS Roma 2 – 1 Porto.  The aggreggate result is Porto 4 – 3 AS Roma.   The game defined in extra time.  It’s just a black day for Italian football.

The match starting with a sour note as Porto opened the score.  In the 26th minute, Tiquinho Soares defeats from close range AS Roma goalkeeper Robin Olsen with a right footed shot in the bottom right corner.  The assist is by Moussa Marega.

The result changes after Referee Cüneyt Çakır granted a penalty to Roma in the 36th minute.  The penalty is conceded by Eder Militão after a foul on Diego Perotti inside the penalty box.  Well, my friends, it is Captain Daniele De Rossi to convert the penalty defeating Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas with a right footed shot while Casillas went to the opposite side.  The party y is on……

Oh no!   What a luck!   De Rossi with injury forcing the first substitution for Roma in the 45th minute.   De Rossi is replaced by Lorenzo Pellegrini.

Oh gosh!   Porto taking the lead again in the 52nd minute following a corner conceded by Rick Karsdorp.  It is Moussa Marega to deliver a right footed shot from very close range.   The  assist is by Jesús Manuel Corona (El Tecatito) .

Here is PORTO official starting lineup – formation by Coach Sergio Conceiçao:

PORTO (4-3-3): Casillas; Militão, Felipe, Pepe, Alex Telles; Otávio, Danilo, Herrera; Corona, Marega, Soares.

Here is AS ROMA official starting lineup – formation by Coach Eusebio Di Francesco:
