Roma v Sampdoria: a bit of history

It began on 22 September 1946: Roma v Sampdoria at the Stadio Nazionale. The first ever match between the Giallorossi and the Blucerchiati in the history of the Italian league, but it was also the first ever match in the Serie A for the team from Genoa, created just a few months earlier with the merger of Sampierdarenese and Andrea Doria. For the record, the match ended 3-1 to Roma: Amadei bagged a hat-trick for the hosts, and Bassetto netted one for the guests.
