Roma secured a thrilling victory in Serie A Week 6 against Venezia on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy. The match saw Roma stage a comeback after falling behind in the first half when Joel Pohjanpalo put Venezia ahead. However, in the second half, Bryan Cristante leveled the score, and the young talent Niccolò Pisilli netted the winning goal.
With this win, the Giallorossi climbed to 9 points in the standings, temporarily matching Empoli. Unfortunately for Venezia, they remain at 4 points and feeling the heat as they sit in 18th place.
Venezia stunned the Olimpico crowd in the 43rd minute when Joel Pohjanpalo found the back of the net with a right-footed shot, beating Roma’s goalkeeper Mile Svilar in the bottom left corner.

✅ Stats before the game.
Roma are one of only six teams against which Venezia have avoided defeat in their previous Serie A campaign (W1 D1 in 2021/22). The Giallorossi’s last win in the competition against the Arancioroverdi dates back to 2 December 2001: 1-0 on a goal by Diego Fuser.
Roma have found the net in each of their last 19 league games against Venezia – the Giallorossi have managed to score in 20 or more consecutive Serie A matches against only three opponents in their history in the competition: against Bologna (29 between 2000 and 2018), Hellas Verona (22 between 1989 and 2020) and Lecce (21 between 2000 and 2023).
Since winning 2–1 on 16 March 1947, Venezia have failed to win in any of their next eight Serie A away games against Roma, drawing two and losing six.

Roma have won just two of their last five home Serie A games (D1 L2), having won five of their previous six (L1); however, the Giallorossi have scored in 23 consecutive home games in the competition, their longest run since September 2017 (a streak that reached 34 on that occasion).
After a draw and three defeats, Venezia beat Genoa 2–0 in the last round of the championship and could win two in a row in Serie A for the first time since November 2021 (against Roma on that occasion and Bologna). In this case, they would find themselves winning at least two of their first six games of a single top-flight tournament for the first time since 1946/47.
Roma have drawn three of their first five games in Serie A this season and have not drawn at least four times in their first six matchdays of a single tournament in the competition since 1984/85 (five in that case with Sven-Göran Eriksson on the bench).
