Palermo bring out the best in Roma strikers

The Giallorossi resume domestic duties this weekend looking to bounce straight back from our Champions League loss to BATE Borisov in midweek. Rudi Garcia’s side travel to the Stadio Barbera in Sicily on Sunday for a 15:00 match against Palermo in Week 7 of Serie A.

Recent games against the Sicilian side have been good for Roma from a goals point of view, with the Giallorossi finding the net in seven of their last eight meetings.

A curious statistic is that all 11 Roma goals in those seven matches were scored by strikers: four by Francesco Totti, two by Lamela (including one on his competitive  debut), two for Mattia Destro and one apiece by Mirko Vucinic, Fabio Borini and Dani Osvaldo. Which basically means that a fair share of the Giallorossi strikers fielded by the various Roma coaches down the years have hit the target when they face Palermo.

To find the last match in which a midfielder or defender scored against the Rosanero, we have to go back to our 4-1 victory at the Olimpico on February 13, 2010, which was settled by a Matteo Brighi brace and strikes by Julio Baptista and John Arne Riise.

Do you think the current crop of Roma forwards can keep the trend going? Join us at 15:00 on Sunday to find out!
