Roma published a financial press release today, officially announcing the sale of defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa to Lyon.

The Frenchman has been sold to the club in his homeland for a fee of €8 million, with possible additional fees of up to €2 million based on the club’s and the player’s performances.

Mapou moved to Italy last summer, making his debut in the 5-1 Champions League victory over CSKA Moscow at the Stadio Olimpico on September 19, 2014. Last season the defender, 26, made 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring in the 2-1 derby win over Lazio on May 25, 2015.

Mapou’s final game for the club came against Valencia in the Trofeo Naranja on August 8, 2015.
