International action for six AS Roma players, Tuesday 18 November 2015

Six Roma players were involved with their national teams on Tuesday night as the international break drew to a close.

There were starting berths for Lucas Digne, Alessandro Florenzi, Gervinho, Norbert Gyomber, Kostas Manolas and Vasileios Torosidis in friendlies and qualifying matches across Europe and Africa last night.

Following the terrifying events in the French capital on Friday evening, France made the trip to face England at Wembley, losing 2-0 with Digne playing the whole match.

Florenzi played 90 minutes as well in Italy’s 2-2 home draw with Romania in Bologna.

Manolas and Torosidis both started in Greece’s goalless draw away against Turkey, while Gyomber contested the entire match as Slovakia defeated Iceland 3-1 in Zilina.

Gervinho played 72 minutes of the Ivory Coast’s 3-0 win over Liberia in the World Cup 2018 qualifying match, whereas Wojciech Szczesny watched Poland overcome the Czech Republic 3-1 from the bench.

Both Radja Nainggolan and Antonio Rudiger were also scheduled to play for Belgium and Germany respectively, but their games against Spain and Holland were called off for security reasons following the terrorist attacks in Paris on November 13.

All the Roma players called away to represent their countries will now make their way back to Rome to join up with the squad ahead of the next league match away against Bologna on Saturday.
