New Giallorossi signing Norbert Gyomber was officially unveiled as an AS Roma player at a press conference in Trigoria this afternoon. Gyomber declared that he is more than ready to take to the field alongside his new team-mates and would not be fazed by the prospect of making his debut this weekend against Juventus if Rudi Garcia were to pick him.
The Slovakian defender, who joined last week from Catania, also spoke of his happiness at signing for the Giallorossi and explained how he learned of the move.
How has your first week as a Roma player gone?
“It’s gone very well. I’ve met some great players and fantastic people. I’m absolutely delighted to be able to train alongside them.”
What are you working on with the rest of the defense?
“It’s not just defending, we’ve also been working on offensive tactics. We’re training hard ahead of Sunday’s visit of Juventus.”
Would you be ready to play against the Bianconeri if Garcia was to call on you?
“Yes. I’m ready to play, even in such an important game. I’ve already played against Juventus on two occasions, so I know all about them.”
Were you surprised to learn of Roma’s interest in you?
“Well, after the injury I picked up last year at Catania I worked very hard for my future, so now I’m just excited to be here.”
How were the negotiations? Did you think you might end up going on loan
somewhere else?
“No, my agent always told me I would come here. He never said I would be going anywhere else.”
Were you ever aware of any illegal behavior when you were at Catania?
“No, when I was at Catania I just trained hard and focused on playing football. I’m not interested in anything else.”
What was your first thought when you received the call from the Giallorossi?
“I was in the car when I found out I’d be coming to Roma and I have to admit that I had to stop the car because I was very excited. I’m so happy to be here.”
