Gallery: Goals galore as Roma beat Sevilla 6-4

It was a winning start for the Giallorossi in front of a home crowd on Opening Day at the Stadio Olimpico. The friendly came after the Giallorossi squad for the 2015-16 season had been introduced to the supporters.

Roma and Sevilla produced 10 goals between them, with the final score reading 6-4. It really was a game of two halves, as Roma bossed the first period, leading 4-0 at the break.

The opener came from the man everyone was there to see. New signing Edin Dzeko needed just four minutes to score his first goal at the Stadio Olimpico. Four minutes later, Vasileios Torosidis doubled the Giallorossi’s lead, before a superb passage of play between Miralem Pjanic, Mohamed Salah and Dzeko saw the Bosnian striker bag his second of the night three minutes before the interval. And there was still time for Nainggolan to make it 4-0.

It was the same story at the start of the second period, Salah adding a fifth on 56 minutes. Roma’s dominance would hold until just after the hour mark: Francesco Totti dispatched a penalty after Tremoulinas had fouled Juan Manuel Iturbe in the box.

Suddenly the complexion of the game changed drastically. Sevilla came to life, in much the same way as they did against Barcelona in the European Super Cup, scoring four times before full time. Denis Suarez hit two, while Juan Antonio Reyes and Coke gave the scoreline an air of respectability.

That’s the way it would end. A wonderful evening’s entertainment on Roma’s opening night in front of their own fans. Scroll up for the best photos of the action.
