AS Roma have landed in Australia, July 15, 2015

The AS Roma squad touched down on Australian soil tonight for only the second time in the club’s 88-year history.

The Giallorossi, who played eight games in Australia in 1966, are here to compete in the International Champions Cup with Real Madrid and Manchester City before heading to Jakarta next week to host ‘AS Roma Indonesia Day 2015’ on July 25th.

The squad left Rome’s Fiumicino airport at lunchtime on Tuesday and travelled overnight via Dubai before landing just after 9pm local time in Melbourne.
On the plane alongside captain Francesco Totti were the club’s international players – including Radja Nainggolan, Miralem Pjanic and Daniele De Rossi – who had been granted an additional week off to recuperate whilst the rest of the squad began their pre-season training with week in Pinzolo.

The full squad will resume training in Melbourne on Thursday morning in preparation for the opening game of the tournament against Real Madrid. The match, which kicks off at 7pm local time on Saturday,  will be hosted at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.

On Tuesday July 21, Roma will play their second and final game of the tournament at 8pm at the same venue against Premier League side Manchester City.
