Alberto De Rossi: Avellino have great character

Roma Primavera boss Alberto De Rossi believes Avellino’s strong character will be one of the biggest issues to overcome when the two sides meet in Week 4 of the 2015-16 championship tomorrow.

The match is being held at the Stadio Comunale Alberto Vallefuoco in Mugnano di Napoli and will kick off at 15:00 CEST.

After your midweek UEFA Youth League clash, it’s back to domestic action against Avellino. What kind of match are you expecting?
“We’re on top of the table at the moment with maximum points so our objective is to continue that. Nonetheless, we need to ensure we don’t underestimate our opposition. We know that Avellino haven’t had a good start to the season, but in none of their games have they been completely out of it and I’m sure it’ll be a very tough match. They have great character and we can’t commit the same mistake we did two seasons ago, when we gave away a two-goal advantage.”

How do you weigh up your Roma side going into the match?
“We’re getting stronger and more experienced all the time. Playing in the Youth League is a really beneficial experience, from traveling abroad to the matches themselves, when you have to deal with some really difficult opponents. For the Primavera, the Youth League really is comparable to the Champions League.”

Speaking of the Champions League, how did it feel to see Edoardo Soleri make his first-team debut on Tuesday night against BATE Borisov?
“It was a fantastic feeling, especially because we were only about 20 meters from him when he came on for his debut. It’s very satisfying on a professional level – that goes for me, the staff and the entire youth academy. Having a player move up to the first team is the objective of the work we do.”
