Pasqual and Pradè speak after a tough night in Rome

Fiorentina captain Manuel Pasqual and sporting director Daniele Pradè gave their thoughts on a disappointing night for the Viola in the capital. Pasqual made no bones about the loss: “It’s a tough defeat, especially coming off the back of such a good run where we’ve picked up some massive results. Losing 4-0 is never good, but this can help us to kick on again. It’s just a blip. “Just as we did well not to dwell on some of the big wins we’ve picked up recently, we need to make sure we put this loss behind us quickly. We need to work hard and look at what went wrong, of course, but the most important thing is to move on.

“We have an important game against Roma on Thursday and then Milan on Monday night. Both are vital if we’re to progress in the Europa League and continue performing well in Serie A. “Lazio are a good team and they caused us problems today. They’re not up at the top end of the table by chance. We were looking to get back into the game and ended up conceding the second and third goals. “When you have such a lot of games in such a short space of time, especially when you’re playing against top-quality opposition, there’s always a chance you can slip up. We’ve come unstuck tonight,” declared Pasqual. Pradè was similarly frank about disappointing nature of the team’s defeat: “Well, it’s certainly an evening to forget. Let’s look at it as a blip. I think the players were a bit tired mentally after all the matches they’ve played in the last few weeks. We need to ensure we recharge our batteries and get ready for the challenges that await. “Of course, we’re disappointed not to have played well, but I think after the Spurs, Inter and Juventus games we’d used up all our mental energy. Lazio deserved to win today – they played good football and maintained an impressive level of intensity throughout. They were more competitive than us tonight,” conceded Pradè.
