Montella: "Udinese are a tough side. We’ll need our fans"

Vincenzo Montella spoke to the press from the Stadio Artemio Franchi on the eve of Fiorentina v Udinese: “Ilicic is a unique player with huge potential. He’s a very unselfish lad. His posture doesn’t do him any favours, but our job is to help him get the best out of it. I’d like to ask for everybody to show a bit more faith in him. I don’t think the arrival of Kurtic has helped him, as such; Josip integrated into the group right away. “Udinese are a team that adapts excellently to each opponent they face. They also have great individual talents. They’ll be extremely motivated, but we’ll have to be even more motivated than they are. We’ll need our fans tomorrow, too. “Can the pressure play in our favour? To be quite honest, we usually manage to produce our best performances when we’re feeling more relaxed. “In terms of the league table, we’re missing the four points we dropped against Genoa and Sassuolo. “Di Natale is getting close to Baggio, in my eyes. Long may he continue scoring – starting from next week, that is! “Gomez returned to full training yesterday. He’ll need around ten days to properly adapt to the pace. We need to take it slow and give him time, but I can’t deny that I’m excited to get him back on the pitch for us. “Will there be rotation tomorrow? It’s inevitable, from a physiological perspective. Matias Fernandez is an important loss and we’re disappointed to be without him. “Stramaccioni has found the right club to demonstrate his potential.” ]]>
