Montella: "Thursday a fillip but Atalanta will give us a hard game"

Just three days after beating Guingamp in the Europa League, it’s already on to the next challenge. This time it’s Serie A and Atalanta are the obstacle for the Viola. Vincenzo Montella met with journalists today to discuss the game.

THURSDAY-SUNDAY
“Thursday’s win was good for our confidence but things are very different in Serie A. Atalanta can be a match for anyone.”

BORJA
“He only had treatment yesterday. We’ll talk to the doctors and decide whether or not to include him in the squad. Personally I don’t think he’s struggling.”

AQUILANI
“Alberto trained after the Europa League press conference and we saw he wasn’t 100% so I decided to rest him. It had nothing to do with the discussions to renew his contract or any of the other suggestions that have been made.”

GOMEZ
He doesn’t need to prove anything. Every game is a test for all the players. There’s no extra responsibility placed on his shoulders. I think he had an excellent game on Thursday.”

TEAM SELECTION
“As a coach, you always pick the team you think will win you the game. Brillante started in Rome because I thought he was the best midfielder given the condition of the others available. I have a fantastic relationship with the owners.”
