Kurtic: "I wept tears of joy for Fiorentina"

< ![CDATA[ Jasmin Kurtic has only been at Fiorentina for a few days, but the atmosphere around the Viola camp already seems to have rubbed off on the 25-year-old Slovenian midfielder. From his tears of joy at signing for Fiorentina to his on-field position, here are the highlights from his press conference at the Stadio Franchi today: CAREER
“I think Fiorentina is the right place for me. They’re a great club with big ideas and they play fantastic football. I’ve been through tough moments in my career, such as when I nearly got relegated with Palermo. At Torino, however, we were fighting for a European spot and I found it a lot easier.”

MOTIVATION
“I want to show what I can do. All central midfielders must be able to play in various positions in the middle of the park. I’m convinced that I’ll be able to fulfil Vincenzo Montella’s wishes.”

TEARS
“I cried tears of joy when I found out that Fiorentina were going to sign me. I will give everything for this club. I was in my hotel for the whole of July and August waiting for a call and I also spoke with Macia. They told me, ‘Here, nobody is an automatic starter. Are you up to the challenge?’ I said I was, and then whilst I was on international duty after the first match with Sassuolo, I signed for the Viola via email.”

ILCIC
“He’s a friend of mind and it was great to see him again. In fact, he’s more than that; he’s like a brother to me and I’m so happy to have linked up with him here. I think he’s a great player.”

COMPETITION
“I’m here to play and I think that competition brings the best out of a player.”

ZAZA
“I always saw him as a very motivated, talented player and I wish him all the best in his career.”

MY NAME IS… JASMIN
“In Slovenia, Jasmin is a boy’s name. The female version is Jasmina.”

EUROPE
“I can’t wait to play in the Europa League, but we are also focused on the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia. I think that Fiorentina deserve to be up there in the top four, but we have to prove that on the pitch.”
