Mario Gomez spoke to Rai pitchside moments after the final whistle blew on Fiorentina’s 2-0 win over Roma in the Coppa Italia quarter-final. Clearly in high spirits after his second-half double downed the hosts at the Stadio Olimpico, the German striker said: “I went through a tough spell but I spent almost a year on the sidelines. I needed to get my strength back before I could find my form of old and now that I’m fit again I’m having more of an impact. I never doubted my ability. “I’d rather talk about the team performance tonight though because we were magnificent. Both in defence and in the final third we played with real quality and determination.”
