Gilardino: "I want to get to 60 goals for the club"

Alberto Gilardino was today officially unveiled as a Fiorentina player again in the press room of the Stadio Artemio Franchi: “I return to Florence with a great sense of enthusiasm. I chose Fiorentina because of the way the team plays football. I’m really pleased to be back for a new challenge in the Viola jersey – the group is fantastic and the facilities here are first rate. “It’s been three years since I left the club and I’m 32 now, but I still feel young and am in good physical condition. I had a lot of offers, but my preference was to return to Florence. I feel excited and motivated and I’m in great shape. “China was a wonderful experience, but it was tough for my family and I at the same time. I don’t like talking about the past much, everyone knows what I achieved here in my previous spell. I’m now just focusing on working hard. “I’ve not thought about taking on a non-playing role in the future – I just want to play football at the moment. I’m available to the coach for the Genoa match. I saw the match against Roma and thought Fiorentina played excellently.  I’m delighted that Mario Gomez got his goal, and Babacar is an important member of the squad. “As a former AC Milan player, it’s a shame to see the situation they’re in at the moment. They’ll rise again because they’re a great club. “Of course, I’ve spoken with the president. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Della Valle family and Vincenzo Montella for having brought me back to Florence. My dream is to get to 60 goals for the club.”
