Federico Bernardeschi has undergone surgery after fracturing his ankle in training on Monday. The operation on the striker’s lateral malleolus was carried out successfully by Dr. Francesco Giron, assisted by the club’s orthepaedist Dr. Federico Fofi. During the operation the deltoid ligament was also sutured. Bernardeschi must avoid putting any weight on his ankle for six weeks, after which he will gradually increase his rehabilitation work. He is expected to return to action in around five months’ time.
