“WE HAVE TO STICK TOGETHER”

MILAN – Here’s what players and management had to say following Sunday's match against Parma in the Italian top flight:CLARENCE SEEDORF“Mario showed good behavior. The team took an unwanted blow after only 6 minutes and when you start in such a way it’s all up hill after that. The players did well to look for the equalizer in the second half which they got but after 2-2, we were unable to read the game well enough to get the third goal. Now we need to stick together, I can’t complain about the players, with 10 players on the pitch they gave everything they had. Now we have Lazio and Fiorentina coming up, two big games to change things around. We have to analyze how we’re conceding goals as it’s not often we concede that many. We’ve adjusted things a bit but today we have to read the game with real objectivity as we conceded 4. We have to keep on working and when things don’t go your way, you just have to work even harder and that’s what we’ll do. The objective is to take things one game at a time and has been since I’ve been here. Europe is always the club’s objective but we have to be realistic and now we just have to think about Lazio”.CLARENCE SEEDORF (PRESS CONFERECE)“Psychologically the team is okay. Analyzing the game it’s clear that the sending off had a big effect. Despite that we reacted well but after 2-2 we didn’t read the game well enough, we were maybe too generous or perhaps we forgot that we only had 10 players on the pitch. The third goal killed things off. We did well in the second half after a tough time in the first. Parma moved the ball well and the second goal complicated things. We don’t have a left back on the team and Emanuelson was the best player we had available in that position, he did well against Juventus but it’s a problem position for us. De Sciglio can play there but he’s not left-footed. The players did the best they could. I’m happy with the affection from the fans. I’m responsible for the future of this team not the past and we’ll be working as best we can from here to the end of the season. Against both Juventus and Atletico, the fans clapped us off the pitch. If they see the commitment, they understand, they’re a lot smarter than people think. It’s a delicate situation and the players are showing commitment, they gave their all with 10 players on the pitch. Europa League qualification was complicated before and it is now too. We have to try. We had both central defenders booked and I wanted to take one of them off so as not to be left with 9 players on the pitch. I needed a defender who could commit a foul without getting sent off. With the score at 2-0, I went for a different change. When Pazzini came on, I had Poli play at full back. I was hoping to get back in the game and wanted to keep all my attacking options on the pitch”.
