VIAREGGIO TOURNAMENT, MILAN-ASCOLI, COACH BROCCHI TO THE MILAN CHANNEL: “WE SHOWED GREAT WILL”

MILAN – This is what coach Cristian Brocchi had to say to the Milan Channel after the win against Ascoli at the Viareggio Tournament:

“I’m happy for the guys who had played less. We showed great will and desire to improve. It is not easy at the Viareggio torurnament, in such an important competition. We are working hard to build them up and to create a group with a winning mentality. The result is the icing to the cake of today’s game. Ascoli early goal could have let us down, but we reacted well and scored the goals we wanted. I saw the grit of the individuals. It is normal that there can be difficult moments, it also happened to me in my career. Who plays always is much more used and skilled, but I’m happy for the guys, they deserved this win. Now we look ahead to Cagliari. It will be an exciting challenge”.

Regarding individual players, Brocchi added: “It is quite normal that Bianchimano struggles a bit. He had some physica problem and was not  at his best at the start. He has scored important goals and we wish he can repeat it again.

With Agnero I’ve always to fight (he laughs). He has quality, he can guess the play or stay apart or make wrong choices. He can improve a lot and has to do it. If he is alert and concentrated, he can be important.

La Ferrara has not played much but today he managed to score a superb goal. I hope it can help him. I expect he becomes more gritty and determinated, he feels more part of the game. I’m happy for him and for the others. Like Maldini, for instance: to see him playing today was a big emotion to me because he is an extraordinary guy and he deserved such a chance. He took it and made me happy.”
