Porto and AC Milan have not met since the 2003 European Super Cup final, when Porto were defending UEFA Cup champions and AC Milan had just won the Champions League. AC Milan won 1-0 with a goal from Andriy Shevchenko. AC Milan last played against Porto in the Champions League in the group stage of the 96/97 season; Porto won 3-2 at Meazza before drawing 1-1 at Estádio das Antas, with current manager Sergio Conceicao on the pitch in both games. Porto ended the group in first place, Milan in third and was eliminated. Including qualifiers, seven of AC Milan’s eight away games in UEFA competition in Portugal have ended in a draw (1W); the only partial victory came against Porto in March 1993 (1-0 thanks to a goal from Jean-Pierre Papin). Porto have lost their last two Champions League home games (0-2 against Chelsea and 1-5 against Liverpool) and will be looking to avoid suffering three consecutive home losses in the competition for the first time in their history.
