(IN THE PHOTO: a team shot of the Primavera)MILANO – Milan beat Hellas Verona 2-1 in the Primavera match at the Vismara Sports Centre last Saturday afternoon.Coach Pippo Inzaghi’s boys took the lead on 23 minutes thanks to a Modic free-kick. However, the lead didn’t last long and on 35 minutes Hellas got the equalizer through Gatto. The rossoneri dominated the first 25 minutes but then had their shot-stopper Gori to thank for keeping Hellas at bay and the scores tied at the break. In the second half, Stephan El Shaarawy made his comeback from injury as expected by coming on in the 61st minute. In the second-half, Milan hit the post twice as well as the cross-bar through Pacifico and Modic. The pressure eventually paid off and on 78 minutes the rossoneri youngsters restored their lead through a Petagna penalty. On 88 minutes Milan had the chance to open up a two-goal cushion but Pinato missed a penalty that was won by Stephan El Shaarawy. With this victory the rossoneri now have 50 points and are just 3 points behind Atalanta who are second in Group B of the Primavera Championship. This Saturday Atalanta play Varese followed by Udinese-Milan on Sunday. Milan then take on Atalanta on the last day of the season on the 3rd of May.Coach Inzaghi had the following to say after the match: "The lads played a great match as always. We hit the bar and the post on many occasions and even missed a penalty, but I’m also happy with the spirit from the lads from the First Team. We’ve now got a big match against Udinese to then face Atalanta with everything at stake. We’re now certain of a place in the play-offs. El Shaarawy did well in my opinion. He should have taken the penalty but the referee didn’t let him. It’s up to us to get him ready for the First Team. I hope to hand him over again to coach Seedorf as soon as possible. I’ll speak to him and we’ll see how he can be used."This is how the two teams lined up:MILAN: Gori; Calabria, Pacifico, Simic, Tamas; Mastalli, Modic, Benedic; Pedone, Petagna, Pinato.
