MILAN – This is what coach Mauro Tassotti had to say during the press conference on the MSC Splendida when it arrived in Naples:
"It's true I was a step away from leaving Milan, you know why. I was told that I would no longer be part of the new staff and so I decided to keep my promise to Massimiliano Allegri, a person and a coach who I respect very much and the results of which we saw, finishing first, second and third place."
Tassotti also spoke about his relationship with Clarence Seedorf and new coach Filippo Inzaghi:
"The relationship with Seedorf? Everyone knows that these months have not been easy for me, I was little involved. I tried to lend my knowledge and my experience. I do not want to look back on those times because it certainly was not easy. I am convinced that Pippo Inzaghi, with his enthusiasm, his experience as a player but also as a coach, as he has already won with the youth team, can do well, with his attitude, his love of detail, he can bring new life into the our environment."
He also discussed Mario Balotelli and the transfer market:
"As for Balotelli, he knows how to play as the main striker, but we will see what his future at Milan holds at the end of the transfer market. Iturbe is on everyone's lips, Inzaghi's, like everyone, unfortunately like many clubs, so is Mandzukic, who has excellent quality, although I do not know if he has problems at Bayern."
A look ahead to next season:
"Our goal now is to take Milan back to being Milan and especially a team that brings excitement to the fans who have lived through these last difficult months."
