The Club shared the news: “AC Milan is thrilled to confirm the permanent acquisition of Santiago Tomás Gimenez from Feyenoord Rotterdam. The Mexican striker has inked a deal that extends until June 30, 2029.”
Gimenez joined the team following AC Milan’s decision to part ways with Spanish forward Alvaro Morata, who has moved to Galatasaray on loan with a buy option. Gimenez will take over his position.
.Santiago made his debut for Mexico in October 2021. As of now, he has made 32 appearances and scored four goals for El Tri.
Let’s dive deeper into his journey. Santiago honed his skills at the Mexican club Cruz Azul, known as “La Maquina.” He made his first-team debut on August 2, 2017, at just 16 years old. By the 2019/20 season, he secured a permanent spot on the first team and played a crucial role in helping Cruz Azul clinch their ninth league title, ending a 23-year championship drought. During his time at Cruz Azul, he collected six trophies, including scoring in the 2022 Supercopa de la Liga MX.

In the summer of 2022, he took his talents to Europe, signing with Feyenoord. Santiago scored his first goal for the team in a match against Emmen on August 27. Just a few days later, he found the net in the Europa League against Lazio at the Olimpico. His debut season in the Netherlands was remarkable, as he netted 15 goals (23 in all competitions) and helped his Rotterdam-based club secure the Eredivisie title.
