SAN SIRO GENTLEMAN AWARDS

MILAN – The 19th annual edition of the San Siro Gentleman awards at the Marriot Hotel in Milan. Here are the winners:
Gentleman Serie A: Ricardo KakàGentleman Milan: Christian AbbiatiSpeciale Gentleman Milan Revelation: Adil RamiBest Milan Goal: Adel TaarabtChristian Abbiati spoke to the Milan Channel:“I said before the derby that 9 points would get us into Europe and we got the first three last weekend. We have two tough matches ahead of us now, Bergamo is not an easy place to go to and Sassuolo are fighting to stay in Serie A. We’ve got a lot of points in the last six weeks and then we lost against Roma. Winning the derby brings enthusiasm. At the end of the season, I’ll talk to Galliani. Gabriel is a good keeper and just needs to grow. I’ve been here many years and I won the first title with Zaccheroni in my first year. I haven’t spoken to Kaka about not making the Brazilian squad but he seems relaxed. I don’t even know what my future holds, never mind the others. There are many young keepers in Italian football at the moment. Gabriel needs to play as he’s doing good things in training. Inzaghi has done well this year and was unlucky at the play-offs”.Ricardo Kakà had this to say:“I think I’m more love here than at the San Paolo in Brazil. I’m happy with this year even if the collective results could have been better. I would have liked to help to reach bigger targets but it’s been a good year. I’m finding my correct position on the pitch and it’s always better of I don’t have to defend as well but I always try and help out. I’m disappointed not to be going to the World Cup but I’m not sad as I did what I could. You have to respect the coach’s choices. I’m happy here at Milan and I have another year left on my contract. We don’t what will happen with Seedorf but we’ll be trying to get to the Europa League and we’re behind him. Spain, Brazil and Germany are the favorites for the World Cup. Robinho is a bit down after not making the team. He did well in the friendly matches and was very hopeful. The best player I played with was Luis Nazario de Lima Ronaldo. My best goal was against Manchester United and also the one against Argentina in London when playing for Brazil”.Adil Rami:“I’ve shown what I can do and I’m happy. I was a mechanic and destiny brought me here. There are a lot of stories in the papers but I’m happy here with Milan. Nesta was my idol and that’s why I chose the number 13. Seedorf has shown trust in me and that’s important as I’m a sensitive guy. It was a tough for at the start but I have and always will have a lot of desire to show what I can do. It’s been a  tough season and I’m a bit tired but we have two games left to get into the Europa League. The derby as the best I’ve ever played in, I said so to Mexes, it was incredible. I’ve been on the French starting 11 for 2 years now”.Lastly, Adel Taarabt spoke to the Milan Channel:“I’m happy with the prize. I’ll never forget my goal against Napoli as it was debut and I never thought I would score immediately. Unfortunately we lost but I showed my worth. I’m happy here and I’ve had the chance to play my first game in the Champions League in a stadium like the San Siro. I feel I’ve grown. I didn’t play well in Madrid but you learn from your mistakes and I want to be here next season as well. We’re negotiating and I hope I’ll stay. We’ve done well in our attempts to get into Europe winning 6 out of the last 7 matches and we got the derby win as well, very important for the fans. Now we have Atalanta and Sassuolo. It’s an open race”.
