RUUD GULLIT TO THE MILAN CHANNEL: “MILAN LIKE A FAMILY”

MILAN – Ruud Gullit, today’s guest at Milanello, gave an exclusive interview to the Milan Channel earlier today. These were his comments:

“My son had never been to Milanello and so I decided to bring him to show him where I used to train. Yesterday I was with Filippo Galli at Vismara (home of the AC Milan Youth Sector, editor’s note). The atmosphere at Milanello is unique, it’s a family. It’s a place where you know you have to win, I wanted my son to experience this feeling. Things have changed a lot, before there were big investments and huge stars, then the financial side of things were sorted, which is right, but the fans aren’t used to it. They always want to win. Milan is now investing a lot in youth and I think the fans need a bit of patience because this philosophy built around youth is the right path. The project for the new stadium is also another sign Milan wants to do well. Milan is changing and just needs time, I believe that in the end Milan will get back to doing well. In the past, the Italian clubs could buy the players they wanted. Now the stars go to Spain or England. To the youngsters at Vismara I said that this is the right moment for them. In my days, there was Maldini and then Albertini. It’s the right moment to launch the youth. Van Ginkel needs a bit of confidence, when you don’t play, you become a bit insecure. Marco Van Basten is well, he’s less stressed now.”
