The beginning of the match…

AC Milan got off to a fantastic start, taking the lead just 2 minutes into the match. Theo Hernández found the back of the net with a precise left-footed shot into the bottom left corner, thanks to an assist from Rafael Leão.

AC Milan boosted their scoreline in the 17th minute, as Matteo Gabbia netted a goal from just a few feet away with a right-footed strike, following a corner that Jay Idzes had conceded.

In the 25th minute, Captain America Christian Pulisic scored a penalty for AC Milan, striking it with his right foot straight down the middle to make it 3-0. The penalty was awarded after Jesse Joronen fouled Tammy Abraham.

Stats before the game:

Milan has triumphed in 10 out of their last 13 Serie A matches against Venezia, including a default 2-0 victory in 1963 (with 2 draws and 1 loss). The sole victory for Venezia during this stretch occurred on March 19, 2000, when they won 1-0 at Penzo thanks to a goal from Filippo Maniero. At home, Milan has been unbeaten in 12 of their 13 encounters with Venezia in Serie A, boasting 8 wins and 4 draws. To sum it up, the only time Venezia managed to win away against the Rossoneri in this league was on November 15, 1942, when they secured a 2-1 victory at the Arena Civica, with goals from Puppo and Pernigo.

Milan have not won any of their last five league games (D3 L2).  The Rossoneri have not recorded a longer streak without a win in Serie A since the period between March and April 2018 (six in that case, with Gennaro Gattuso as coach).  After draws against Torino and Lazio and a defeat against Parma, Milan could fail to win any of their first four Serie A games of the season for the second time in the last 65 years, after 1997/98 (D2 L2 in that case).

After losing 10 games in a row in Serie A, Venezia are unbeaten in four of their last six matches in the tournament (W1 D3).   Since the start of last season (since 2023/24), Rafael Leão is the only player to have reached double figures for both goals (10) and assists (10). Against Venezia, the Portuguese has already provided two assists, both in the match on January 9, 2022 at Penzo.
