✅  Stats before the game:

Roma triumphed in their latest Coppa Italia match against Milan on January 31, 2007, breaking the Rossoneri’s unbeaten streak of six games (with four wins and two draws) against them. After facing two consecutive defeats to Roma in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals in 1980 and 1984, Milan successfully progressed in their most recent encounter at this stage during the 2003/04 season, winning both legs 2-1. Under Stefano Pioli’s management, Milan has had a mixed record in their last four Coppa Italia quarter-final appearances, alternating between advancing and being eliminated, following three semi-final runs in the previous four seasons with coaches Gattuso, Montella, and Mihajlovic. Meanwhile, Roma has struggled in their last five quarter-final matches in the Coppa Italia, with only one team, Roma themselves, having a longer losing streak at this stage between 1998 and 2002 (six losses), while Empoli and Padova each have five.

Milan have lost three of their last five Coppa Italia matches (W2), as many defeats as in their previous 18 matches in the competition (W8 D7).

After Juventus (36) and Inter (29), Milan (24) and Roma (22) are the two teams to have reached the Coppa Italia semi-finals the most times in the competition’s history – however, the Giallorossi have not progressed past the quarter-finals since the 2016/17 season (2-1 against Cesena).
