POST-MATCH REACTION

The interviews after the Round 27 Serie A match between Fiorentina-Milan.

MILAN – This is what was said after Monday’s Serie A match between Fiorentina-Milan at the Artemio Franchi:

MARCO VAN GINKEL
“We did well in the first half. In the last 10 minutes they scored two goals so everybody was quiet in the dressing room. Everybody believed we could win the game, get points, but in the end we didn’t come away with anything. We must continue, we must believe we can collect points. We had chances to kill-off the game. We were better in the first half. In the second they pressed us and did well. On Saturday we will be at home and we have to win. Cagliari are at the bottom of the table.”

KEISUKE HONDA
“I am disappointed with this result. We should have won this game. We had to be more focused after breaking the deadlock. We have lots of games ahead. We must change the mindset. It won’t be easy but it’s our responsibility. Cagliari will play well against us so we must be focused for the entire 90 minutes. It’s not going to be an easy game. They never are.”

MATTIA DESTRO
“It’s a shame about the result, we played an excellent match against a very good side that showed it was in form. Straight after the goal perhaps we dropped back a bit too much, we should have scored another goal right away, because we were playing well and we had the chances too. We must take the positives from this match and continue playing the way we did in the first-half and for part of the second-half. It’s hard to comment on the goal, because this is a defeat that hurts. We are heading home disappointed about the result”.

FILIPPO INZAGHI (press conference)
“I was convinced that by having players back from injury we could start to see the Milan from the end of December again. Tonight’s result is tough to swallow and to tell the truth even a draw would have been tough on us. The disappointment from tonight was the lack of ruthlessness in front of goal. We should have made it 2-0 because I knew that Fiorentina would have put us in difficulty and I brought on Cerci to try and find a second goal as I knew it was a match that needed to be wrapped up. Next week we will have many players available again and then there is the international break. We can still play good football and achieve a lot. Joaquin changed the match, he caused us problems. We have to keep this self-assuredness with which we played with today. Congratulations to Fiorentina that turned around a difficult match.”
