The Azzurri enjoyed most of the possession, ramping up the pressure as the first-half wore on, and eventually found the opener on 39 minutes courtesy of a deflected effort from Lorenzo Insigne.
Milan reacted immediately though, and on the cusp of half-time, Kalidou Koulibaly headed a Keisuke Honda cross into the path of Giacomo Bonaventura who made no mistakes to volley in the equaliser.
The second-half followed a similar pattern with the hosts seeing most of the ball, and while Dries Mertens had an effort crash against the far-post, the Rossoneri rear-guard held firm to collect an important point and keep the team’s unbeaten run in the league going.
