MILAN – Philippe Mexes spoke exclusively to the Milan Channel today:
“It was fundamental for us to egt the win against Fiorentina. It was good for morale after the match against Lazio that we could well have won as well. We were already a tight group and being together in the training retreat for the past few days has brought us even closer together. It’s not easy with the period we’ve been going through and we needed a positive result. We’re working well, some doubts began to creep in after recent results but the important thing is the result. It doesn’t matter who scored but of course I’m happy with my goal. I play well with my fellow Frenchmen at the back but I also get on well with Zapata, Abate, De Sciglio, Emanuelson, Silvestre and Zaccardo as well as Bonera who was on the pitch with me yesterday. There’s good spirit and healthy competition. That’s a part of football and we’re all playing for each other. This win will be good for us going into the match against Chievo. All the players rely on each other. The forwards rely on us when they push forward just like we rely on them when we’re defending. Our defect this season has been conceding goals and we didn’t do that last night. Claudio Lippi is always in our thoughts and that’s why the goal was dedicated to him”.
