MILAN – The decision to green-light the Portello area of the city for Milan’s new stadium has been making the headlines in the Italian press.

Sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport ran a banner on its front page and quoted what Barbara Berlusconi had to say. The other sports dailies Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport also ran front page headlines on similar lines.

The broadsheets also gave over space to the decision with Milanese-based Corriere della Sera running a strapline “Milan’s new home”.
