MIHAJLOVIC GIVES EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW TO THE MILAN CHANNEL

MILAN – Before facing the press ahead of Saturday’s visit of Atalanta to the San Siro, Sinisa Mihajlovic spoke exclusively to the Milan Channel.

The opening comments from the coach were on the team dinner held earlier this week: “I have always organised them. It was to thank all the staff that work hard for the club and that help us give our best. When we’re united, we can achieve anything. If we act as individuals, less so.”

Does the coach still have plans to switch to a 4-4-2 formation? “We’ll see. First, we have to get the injured forwards back. We are currently doing well and we have found balance with our current set-up. It is however in Milan’s DNA to play with two forwards. When we have them all available we can think about it. Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. Pressure? I like it. I left the Serbia national team because there wasn’t the kind of pressure that you get with the day to day running of a club side. I am used to it also from my playing days. I enjoyed the pressure that came with the big games. As a coach it’s the same thing. I don’t like an easy life.”

Mihajlovic continued:
“I have noted there is less criticism and more praise. But more balance is needed when forming opinions. We weren’t useless before and we’re not phenomenal now. These 4 matches unbeaten don’t come from nothing. The results come from daily work. We have always believed. We know we haven’t resolved our problems and we have to keep our feet on the ground. Trying to find a balance is the key.”

On the team’s unbeaten streak in Serie A: “These results as I have said are a fruit of our daily efforts. The biggest praise for me comes from the words of Arrigo Sacchi. To receive praise from someone who changed football shows we’re on the right path. Set pieces? I don’t know what wasn’t working last season. I know goals were conceded and few were scored. We have improved in both areas from set pieces. We give importance to set plays in training. We have players who can take them and players that are good in the air.”

Closing comments on the formation: “We’ll see. We have another training session later today. Alex and Bertolacci aren’t available. Bonaventura is suspended so we shall see. Montolivo did part of the session with us yesterday and will train again today.”
