Giacomo “JACK” Bonaventura URGES THE TEAM TO STAY ON THIS TRACK

MILAN – Giacomo ‘Jack’ Bonaventura spoke to the Milan Channel last night and called on the players to close out the year strongly.

Opening comments: “At the end of the Sampdoria match, we were all feeling happy and good. We knew we had put in a good performance which helps us to work better during the week. However, we have to move on right away and focus on the next matches. On paper, we’re the favourites for the coming matches, but we have to stay focused and play like we did versus Samp. I’ve played in a three-man midfield and I’ve done well, scoring and helping out in attack. But in that role, you need to play with more balance and be less attacking. Perhaps playing in that role limits my abilities, but I always try and play my part for the team.”

More from the Italian: “I started my career playing on the left in a four-man midfield and I like that role. Antonio Conte is keeping me in mind, but there is a lot of competition. In the past matches I have been playing in a role that can get the best out of my qualities. I have to think and focus solely on Milan and I cannot let my standards drop. The Euros are one of my objectives, but it’s down to Conte. To achieve that I have to focus on giving my best for Milan. My performances? I let the press judge. I have to focus on what I can do for the team and give my all. But of course I am happy about playing a key role in these past matches. I think continuing like this I can become an important player. Change in formation? We adopted a new system but approached the match with a good attitude. We need to keep this up in the coming matches. We cannot get ahead of ourselves however after the 4-1 victory and we need to pick up as many points as possible between now and the winter break.”
