FOCUS ON SUNDAY’S OPPONENTS EMPOLI

MILAN – The rossoneri will play hosts to Empoli this Sunday in the Round 23 lunch-time kick-off. The Tuscans will make the trip to the San Siro after a 2-0 victory at home to Cesena in the previous round. Speaking after the match, these were the comments from Empoli’s coach Maurizio Sarri:

“We have been lacking wins, but we haven’t been lacking in confidence. The squad weren’t going through a moment of depression. It’s clear though that the win is important and it’s something better than the compliments received. The road ahead is long, it might seem all the much easier at the minute but that isn’t the case. It’s important that the players now show the same kind of commitment. We played well for over an hour. We found a way through in the first half and the match became that much easier. It was a big win against a direct rival for safety. Empoli’s playing style? It’s hard to transfer it to a big team. It’s the result of a long process.”
