EVERYBODY AT SAN SIRO

 

Milan face Atalanta in their next match at San Siro.

HAT-TRICKS: Marco Van Basten scored two against Atalanta in Milan, and both games finished with the same score, 3-1, for the rossoneri. The first was Milan-Atalanta on January 17th 1990 with a goal initially from Caniggia and then three from the Dutchman. The second was Milan-Atalanta 3-1 from March 1st 1992. Careca Bianchezi gave the away side the lead but then Van Basten scored three to win for the rossoneri. George Weah also scored a hat-trick against Atalanta in 1998 and so did Pippo Inzaghi on March 8th 2009.

ATALANTA: Bonacina, Evair, Cigarini and Denis have all scored important goals in victories for Atalanta over Milan at San Siro since 1988.

DEBUTS: On September 20th, 1992, Dejan Savicevic made his debut at San Siro with the rossoneri in Milan-Atalanta 2-0 with goals from Massaro and Van Basten. On October 27th 2004 Fabrizio Coloccini made his debut against Atalanta. The Argentinian had just won Olympic gold with his national team.

PAOLO MALDINI: On March 30th 2008, the defender criticised the fans for booing the team after Atalanta led by 2-0. He led by example by scoring a consolation goal five minutes from time (after Pirlo had missed a penalty) which almost led to a spirited comeback.
