DERBY WEEK IN MILAN

MILAN – The first statements from protagonists from both Milan and Inter ahead of this Sunday’s derby. On Monday evening, Marco Amelia was the guest at Studio Milan and appeared on the Milan Channel. These were his words on the 3 rossoneri forwards ahead of the match on Sunday with Inter:"Pazzini is a goal scorer and Balotelli is super. Seedorf knows their strengths and needs to be left in peace. At this moment in time, he’s decided to make certain decisions, but it’s worth remembering that Pazzini has only just come back from a long term injury. We have a week before a really important derby. In attack we’re strong, I’ve noted Robinho above all in good form, like in his first 2 years. With El Shaarawy we need to be patient and Milan’s history teaches us to be cautious in these situations. I’ve seen him in good shape and relaxed. The next step now is to get back out on the pitch playing. In the derby? We’ll see. I’m behind him because he’s suffered in what has been a tough season for him".Ricardo Kakà was inteviewed by Sport Mediaset for the TV show Tiki Taka. These were the words of Kakà:“My desire is to stay, but there are a few personal issues to discuss and resolve. It won’t be a long process, the fans need to stay calm, because I don’t want to make anyone worry. The decision will be purely personal, even though my priority is to stay at Milan. I don’t know why the fans love me so much. The feeling is mutual, the true fans know that I feel the same way that they do about the rossoneri jersey. The derbies are the most exciting matches. All goals are important but those in the Champions League are even more so and those against Inter in 2005 were the ultimate”.Ivan Cordoba, Inter’s team manager, spoke at the presentation of the 15th edition of the San Siro 2000-Memorial Lino Burgaretta Trophy and Claudio Lippi Memorial Trophy. This is what he had to say:“As soon as the match with Napoli had ended, the squad began to think about the derby with Milan. It’s normal to do so, they’re unique matches in which you need the right concentration and tension to win. The Milan Derby is truly great, it’s difficult to describe the significance with words. For me it has always been a special game. Everybody is expecting a top match, let’s hope that the fans can be a part of a great spectacle.”Live on the Milan Channel from the 50th anniversary celebration event of the Busto Garolfo Milan Club, the following former greats were interviewed: Maurizio Ganz ("The derby has come at the right time for Milan who need to bounce back with a gift for its fans."), Angelo Carbone ("I have lots of respect for both De Jong and Poli in midfield and I hope they can shine in the derby”) Pietro Vierchowod who also paid tribute to the great Vujadin Boskov ("I think that Milan has to work hard to improve in the defensive phase across the whole team".)
