DEJAN SAVICEVIC TO THE MILAN CHANNEL: “Delighted to be here.”

MILANELLO – Dejan Savicevic was at Milanello on Thursday and gave an interview to the club’s in-house TV channel. These were the ex-rossonero’s comments to the Milan Channel:

“I’ve missed Milanello, even if at home I often watch the Milan Channel and I see there have been some changes. I am really happy to be here where I spent many years and took part in lots of training sessions. The training was very hard, but by preparing well, we performed well out on the pitch and without that I don’t think you can do well. The preparation is key to performing well out on the pitch. I still remember the up-hill area near the lake, but when you’re young you can deal with everything! My greatest memory is definitely the final in Athens in 1994 against a top side like Barcelona. We had to play against them without Baresi and Costacurta, but we gave our best and got the result. Winning a final against a great side 4-0 will remain in the history of football. There were some regrets for the following year, I was absent because of injury, and I was disappointed because I was in great form. With me playing, we would have had a better chance to do more. I remember the 97/98 season, not a happy one for us. We will see what happens in the coming days, what the President will decide for the good of the club. Milan have lots of quality players, I wouldn’t know who to identify as my heir,  Menez has quality and ideas, but also Cerci and Suso. I especially like Suso who you can see has good feet. But to get results you need to be strong in all areas of the team. In my era we had Rossi, the best goalkeeper in the world, in addition to a fantastic defence and midfielders like Desailly, Donadoni, Albertini and Boban, as well as Costacurta, Tassotti and then Panucci. In attack, players like Massaro and Weah. We had everything, a really great team. Even Eranio and Galli played many matches. There are people that work for Milan like Adriano Galliani that have lots of experience in addition to the President Berlusconi. The decisions are down to them. I am sure they know what to do.”
