Mattia De Sciglio spoke exclusively to Milan Channel about the derby defeat on Sunday night and the up-coming match against Palermo. He said:
“Losing the derby left a bitter taste in our mouths because as far as the football played goes, we deserved to win the match I think and take home all three points. Derby games are different to all other games and one small episode can change the course of the game. We played a lot better than in the first two games, we rediscovered our confidence and the type of football we were playing in pre-season. We are on the right path and we have to do well to continue on like this. Personally I was very happy with my performance, the performance of the whole team was very good b ut obviously the final result means were were not able to enjoy that performance much. As far as opinions go, those people who understand football see the matches and they don’t need to read certain things, that doesn’t interest me. I feel good, especially compared to last season where I lacked any consistency and this year it’s important to earnt that trust. I try to concentrate on one day at a time and I try to do my best just as I did last season where things were tough. Palermo have always caused us a lot of problems in the past, they are prganised and they have done well in the first few matches. It wan’t be easy but we have to show the same hunger we showed in the derby, maybe even something more. Montolivo is a quality, technical player and both he and Nigel [De Jong] are very important players, they both have different charcteristics and depending on those characteristice we all have to adapt quickly and prepare the match with that in mind. Mario is doing well in training, he is working hard, we are happy to have him here again and hopefully he can continue like he is.”
