AC Milan win the Coppa Italia Round of 16 defeating Genoa on Thursday 13 January 2022 at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy.  Milan remain unbeaten at home, against Genoa, in the Italian Cup, thanks to two previous victories (in 1979 and 1982) and a draw (in 1937).  AC Milan  will play the Coppa Italia Quarterfinals against the winner of Lazio v Udinese.

Genoa surprising the Rossoneri opening the score in the 17th minute. It is Leo Østigard to defeat AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan with a headed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Manolo Portanova with a cross following a corner conceded by Maignan.

✅   Stats before the game.  There have been 5 previous meetings in the Coppa Italia between AC Milan and Genoa, all played between 1937 and 1985:  AC Milan 2 wins, 2 draws and Genoa 1 win.  AC Milan’s last home match in the Coppa Italia against Genoa dates back to 5 September 1982: the fifth round of the group stages, the Rossoneri won 3-2 with a brace from Joe Jordan and a goal from Aldo Serena.
