Inzaghi saying, “To be consistent with our results, it’s vital that we win. It won’t be easy. Chievo played very well two weeks ago against Sampdoria. I think that we are in the ideal condition to win. When I have the players available, it’s obvious that I try to field the same set of players that have done well. Chievo are a well-drilled side, Maran is an excellent coach. They have several different formations they could use during the match, they have good runners in midfielder and use the counter attack. We know the difficulties and the dangers that lurk in this match, but I am sure that we are ready to give a good display.”

Inzaghi continued: “What Milan have achieved in Europe is unrivalled. I congratulate the 5 Italian sides that did well in the Europa League. Torino picked up a very impressive result. We have to ensure that Milan are soon playing again at the top levels. I am sorry that untrue reports have emerged about Cerci. If they were true, he would have been frozen out of the squad. Of course he was disappointed to have only played the final minutes (against Cesena, editor’s note), I explained to him that I could not use my third substitute before. He showed a great attitude though in those final 5 minutes. Cerci knows that I wanted him at Milan and that there are no problems.”

A word on Destro: “I am happy with how he is performing and also how Pazzini is doing. I don’t think Destro can be judged by one match. Destro also has to help the team push up the pitch, win the odd free-kick. He has to stay calm though because I have confidence in him. Against Cesena he had a normal match. I only changed him because I have a player like Pazzini on the bench and not because I thought Mattia had a bad game. I have four very good and important forwards, it’s very hard to choose two of them. Let’s not forget, we also have Honda who gives a big hand to the team. We also have 4 excellent centre-backs for just 2 places and so just like in attack it won’t be easy to choose. In training on Friday morning, the 20 players all showed they deserve to play. Based on the opposition, we can alternate the positions of the 3 players upfront. I am often in touch with Alberto Paloschi (ex-Milan striker and now at Chievo, editor’s note). He knows that I am his first fan, there is a bond based on not just respect but also friendship. However twice a year we are adversaries, and so I hope that not Saturday but the next match he does well!”

On the President: “I spoke to him at 10 in the morning, unfortunately he had a last minute commitment and he couldn’t visit [Milanello]. I speak to him twice a day and I thank him for his closeness, let’s hope that on Saturday we can give him the gift of a good match.”

Commenting on Parma’s financial troubles: “I scored my first goal [in Serie A] for Parma and I owe Parma a lot. I am sorry for all those that work for Parma. Milan and myself are ready to do what is possible to salvage the situation. We are all interested in making sure Parma resolve this situation.”

More on team news: “Cerci and Menez once the team is settled can play together. When you have to choose between Cerci and Menez whatever choice you make can be criticised. Both are doing well, whoever doesn’t start will have to come on and show me they deserve a starting jersey for the next match. We must take things one game at a time. Bonaventura is a blessing for every coach, I am sorry to send one of him or Honda on the bench. There were some positive signs on Sunday, we are now welcoming back many important players and we can build on this. The important thing is to be consistent with our results. When you are at a club and have a President like ours, sooner or later you will get back to being at the top.”
