MILAN – Sunday’s derby between Inter-Milan ended in a goalless draw at the San Siro.

After soaking up the Inter pressure in the early exchanges, Milan responded through a Menez counter and teasing ball across the face of the box which was cleared away by Juan Jesus. Suso stung the gloves of Handanovic on two occasions, before Milan had the ball in the back of the net only for it to be ruled out for offside. Milan grew as the first-half went on and finished the better of the two teams with Menez and Suso a constant threat to the Inter back-line.

The rossoneri continued where they had left off at the start of the second-half, enjoying plenty of the possession. Inter did eventually respond and called Diego Lopez into action on a couple of occasions through Palacio and Juan Jesus. Icardi and De Jong both went close late on but were unable to find a winner, while Inter earlier in the second half had a goal ruled out after a foul by Palacio on Antonelli in the build-up to the goal.

Here are the stats to emerge from the match:

7- this is the number of Milan players that made their debut in a Milanese derby on Sunday night: Alex, Luca Antonelli, Gabriel Paletta, Marco Van Ginkel, Suso, Alessio Cerci and Mattia Destro.

12- this is the number of goalless draws between Milan-Inter. The last one was the 24th of October 2004.
