BARBERA BERLUSCONI: STADIUMS NOW HAVE DIFFERENT NEEDS

< ![CDATA[MILAN - Barbera Berlusconi has given an interview to Italian Tv Rai, for a program entitled Petrolio, in which she speaks about the future of Italian football. Here is a slice of what she said: "The main problem of Italian football is the constant feuding. All the operators should be worried about how to promote the sport in Europe and all over the world but too much time is lost in disputes and in individualism. When Germany had a disappointing Euros in 2000 they were able to change the way they governed the sport, the rules, the men, the stadiums, the youth academies and the accounts, and not just at a national level but in all clubs. I think our problems is a reflection of what is happenining in Italy overall, a country that does not want to change. Even in football a lot of people and positions are protected and the desire to stay seated on one's individual throne is more important than implementing change." Barbera Berlusconi also spoke about the San Siro stadium. she said: "San Siro is a beautiful stadium, it is a place of history and epic results for both Milan and Inter but that is not enough now. Stadiums now need to be able to offer more services, different infrastructures, to stay open seven days a week and not just the day of the match. But there are many difficulties in Italy today, the economic support of the state, the region and the council..."]]>
