ALBERTINI OFFERS HIS THOUGHTS ON JUVE MATCH

< ![CDATA[MILAN – Who better than Milan legend Demetrio Albertini to offer thoughts about Milan’s next match versus Juventus. This is what he had to say to the Milan Channel: "My decision to get involved in football at the federal level was because there is a need to challenge, because it’s right and because we need to provide an alternative for change. That foul on Baggio in the 1993/1994 season wasn’t exactly a foul. Football is a contact sport and not all contact is a foul. I remember well my headed goal, the only one in my career. A great memory for a brilliant equaliser. The rival in those days was Juve and to avoid defeat against the direct rivals was important. The first penalty kick at the professional level was at Pasadena in the final of the World Cup. With a short run-up I didn’t give time for the goalkeeper to dive. It was my technique that was then used by a great goal-scorer Signori who took them like me. In the 1999/2000 season taking free-kicks I had two great jumpers like Oliver Bierhoff and Ambrosini in the middle of the area and sometimes I was able to make them happy with an assist. De Jong is a fixed point and a centre-piece of this team. I remember when he arrived he had a few difficulties. Playing in the middle brings out his characteristics. He scored an extraordinary goal yesterday and it pleases me that Milan can rely on a player with quality and experience like him. It’s an important match versus Juventus because it can give credibility and awareness of the players’ abilities. It’s fundamental for the group, but not in terms of results. You can collect points throughout the year, not only in the head to head clashes. The season down-turn will have to be managed well. Milan up until now are still a work in progress, but the club knows how to prepare these important matches and coach Inzaghi also. It won’t be a vital match, but rather an important one."]]>
