(IN THE PHOTO: Adel Taarabt with CEO Adriano Galliani before the press conference)MILAN – Please see below all the statements from today’s press conference at Milanello for the official presentation of the January signing Adel Taarabt.Milan’s chief executive Adriano Galliani was the first to speak: "Today is the official presentation of our last acquisition in the January transfer window. Adel Taarabt is a striker with great talent. I hope that he can show all his talent with us. I think I am the director who has seen the most QPR matches, even when they were in the English second tier I watched them thanks to my friendship with Flavio Briatore. I was often asked about him and he always seemed a great player to me. I don’t understand why at the age of nearly 25 he hasn’t as yet shown all his talent, but I am convinced that with us he will show his true potential. He has incredible talent. I wish him every success in becoming the great player that he deserves to be. This purchase was agreed, as always, with coach Clarence Seedorf.”Milan’s CEO also added the following: "January has been our best month because we have collected 10 points. I hope the squad continues to grow. We’ve also got the Champions League matches. It will also be an important month in the league. I sense a positive feel around the place. Seedorf is doing really well, I see positve signs. The foundations are there to do well, now let’s see the results.”These were Adel Taarabt’s first words: "For me it was a great joy to hear about Milan’s interest in me. I’ve got loads of enthusiasm and once I passed the medical tests and completed all the admin, it was a dream come true signing for Milan. I’m honoured to be here, I’m at a top club. It’s a big change for me and I cannot wait to make my debut with this shirt.”Taarabt continued: “I’m still really young and they say I’ve got talent. It’s been a while now that people have said that I should be playing in a big team. During my days with QPR, I was linked with PSG but nothing happened. I’m here now and I can’t wait to show my true worth. I have an idol and his name is Zinedine Zidane, because I grew up in Marseille."Speaking about his preferred role he had this to say: "My preferred position is where the coach wants me to play. Near the striker, on the right, the left, behind the front two. I hope that Milan is a platform for me to show my abilities and to give everything to the team. I chose my new number on my friend’s advice. He’s a big rossoneri fan and he advised me to choose the number 23 jersey if it was free.”Adel Taarabt then turned his attention to working with Clarence Seedorf: "I’m proud to play in a similar role that coach Seedorf played in when he was a player. He’s fantastic. I think I can learn a lot from him. It’s a great chance for me and I’ve got great respect for Seedorf as a player and as a coach. I haven’t got a difficult character. Perhaps some find it hard to accept direct and sincere people. In football in general, these type of characters aren’t always appreciated. I’m really the complete opposite, I like to joke and this can be misinterpreted.”These were the final words from Adel Taarabt: "I will be friends will all my team-mates. It’s true that when Milan were interested in me, I thought "well, they’ve got the Italian Balotelli and now they’re going to also have the Balotelli of Morocco." I can’t wait to get to know Balotelli better and to become his friend. Milan have shown great faith in me by inserting me in the Champions League squad list. However, I’m really motivated and I can’t wait to show my worth in Serie A and play my part in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid.”Adriano Galliani also took the chance to speak about reports in today’s papers and the fitness of El Shaarawy: "I’ve read the papers today and I want to say that my future is here.I often speak with the President, despite the fact that he is very busy with his political commitments. I don’t know if he will be able to visit the side before the Napoli match, but he always follows us and is up to date. El Shaarawy fractured his fourth metatarsal in his left foot and we thought it was going to be okay without the need for an operation. He then played and felt pain. We were then advised that an operation was needed. He should recover in 6 weeks. He’s not disappeared, he’s just following the doctor’s orders. In my opinion we will have him back by mid-March.”Milan’s CEO then spoke abot Milan’s next opponents in the Champions League: "Atletico Madrid are doing really well. Simeone is doing well in every competition that that they are competing in. Well done to them. We’ll see what happens. We don’t fear them. They’re doing incredible things. First in the league, first in the Champions League group stages, semi-finals of the Copa del Rey. It’s difficult to top that. We’re disappointed about our exit from the Italian Cup. We’ll try and take advantage of these next two weeks to prepare. It’s a regret that we didn’t qualify for the semi-finals, but we'll try and turn the situation around in the coming weeks and improve ahead of the Champions League match on the 19th of February and arrive in peak condition. The Arab market is important in terms of television rights. There is a great passion and there are players with great talent. They have a growing football culture and interesting economic systems. It’s one of the most intriguing places in the world.” Galliani finished by wishing former club captain Cesare Maldini a happy birthday: "I wanted to wish a happy-birthday to Cesare Maldini, our captain for the European Cup success in 1963 at Wembley: the first Italian club to win the competition. The best game in recent years? Mourinho will have to give forgive me, but I vote for the second-leg of the semi-final of the Champions League against Manchester United in 2007. I hope the Portuguese coach doesn’t mind and to who I congratulate for his victory over Manchester City on Monday night.”
