Portugal
Cristiano Ronaldo has been included in a provisional Portugal squad for a sixth World Cup at the age of 41, extending a record number of tournament appearances. He is among a small group of players who have featured in five editions, a list that also includes Lionel Messi, who is likewise expected to appear at a sixth finals. Coach Roberto Martinez selected a 27-man group plus one symbolic inclusion linked to Diogo Jota, referencing the former forward who died in a car accident last July. Ronaldo is available for all group matches after avoiding a three-game suspension from a red card in a World Cup qualifier against the Republic of Ireland in November.
