FC Salzburg 1 – 0 AS Roma

👉🏆 AS Roma’s road in the Europa League got complicated after losig the Europa League Playoffs First Leg game beat by FC Salzburg on Thursday 16 February 2023 at the Salzburg Stadium in Salzburg, Austria. Sadly, Roma are mocked in the final minutes ending with a 1-0. Roma in the second leg will therefore have to win at least with two goals to be able to access the Round of 16. Bitter result for Mourinho’s team, which would have deserved the victory and was hit in the final by the only shot in the second half by the home team.
The bad news for the Roman gladiators started with Argentinean forward Paulo Dybala playing only the first half. Dybala was substituted for injury in the 46th minute by Zeki Çelik.
The only goal of the match was scored in the 88th minute and enough to grab the victory. Nicolás Capaldo defeated AS Roma goalkeeper Rui Patricio with a headed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Strahinja Pavlovic.

✅ Stats before the game. First confrontation in European competitions between Salzburg and Roma. The Giallorossi will be the eighth different Italian team that the Austrians will face in Europe. Salzburg have lost 11 of their 20 European competition matches against Italian opponents, including the most recent: 0-4 against Milan last November – in this run, only once have the Austrians kept a clean sheet, in a 0-0 draw against Juventus in the groups of the 2010/11 Europa League. Roma are unbeaten against Austrian teams in European competition, with a record of three wins and three draws in total against Wacker Innsbruck, Austria Vienna and RZ Pellets WAC. Salzburg have not won in four Europa League matches (D1 L3); the last time the Austrians went on a longer run without a win in the competition was between February 2015 and October 2016, when they lost five consecutive matches.
