🏆👉  Atalanta eliminated after losing the UEFA Europa League Quarterfinals Second Leg game defeated by Leipzig on Thursday 14 April at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, Italy. Leipzig, objectively, played better than Atalanta and qualified for the Semifinals.  The aggregate result was Atalanta 1 – 3 Leipzig.

Atalanta, now, will have to focus on the Serie A, in which they have slipped to eighth place.  An upbill battle to qualify for the Europa League next season.

Oh no! Leipzig opened the score in the 18th minute. It is Christopher Nkunku defeated Atalanta goalkeeper Juan Musso with a right footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Konrad Laimer.

A tragedy for our Atalanta fans. Leipzig increased the score for the 0-2 in the 87th minute. Christopher Nkunku converted a penalty with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The penalty is conceded by Juan Musso.

✅  Stats before the game.  Atalanta have never lost a UEFA Cup / Europa League home game in 11 previous matches (7W, 4D), three of them against German sides: 1-0 win against Cologne in 1990, 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund in 2018 and a 3-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen last month.
With four wins and one draw, Atalanta have remained unbeaten in their last five games in European competitions and have not done better since February-August 2018, when they reached seven. Atalanta have made it through the round in six of their last seven European knockout matches on occasions in which they have avoided defeat in the first leg; an exception is the crossing in the quarter-finals of the 1990-91 UEFA Cup with Inter (0-0 first leg, 0-2 second leg). La Dea did not reach the semifinals of a major European competition from 1987-88 in the Cup Winners’ Cup, succeeding as a Serie B team.
