🏆👉 Atalanta won the UEFA Europa League Group Stage game on Thursday 21 September 2023 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, Italy. Atalanta beat Raków Czestochowa without too many problems on the first day of the group stage.. Charles De Ketelaere scored first and then Ederson grabbing a 2-0 victory. First position immediately conquered and the lead goes to the championship.
In the next game, Atalanta will face Sporting Lisbon, while Rakow will have to deal with Sturm Graz.
This is the first ever meeting between Atalanta and Raków Czestochowa in a European competition: in general, La Dea has never faced a Polish team in Europe. Raków Czestochowa have never played in a major European competition before this edition of the UEFA Europa League – Atalanta will also be the first Italian team to face a European match (20 previous qualifying matches).
Atalanta opened the score in the 49th minute. It is Charles De Ketelaere to defeat Raków Czestochowa goalkeeper Vladan Kovacevic with a headed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Davide Zappacosta

✅ Stats before the game: This will be only the second time ever for Atalanta in the UEFA Europa League group stage: in the first, they won their group and remained unbeaten, in 2017/18 (W4, D2), winning all three home games. Raków Czestochowa will be the 28th different Polish team to compete in a major European competition and the first Polish debutant team since Dyskobolia Grodzisk Wielkopolski in 2003/04. The last Polish team to win their first ever match in a major European competition was Arka Gdynia, against Beroe Stara Zagora in the 1979/80 Cup Winners’ Cup. Between the Europa League and the Champions League, Atalanta remained unbeaten on the first day of the group stage in three of the four matches (2W, 1D), the only defeat in this match was against Dinamo Zagreb in September 2019 (0- 4).
Atalanta did not score in their most recent match in European competition (0-2 against RB Leipzig in the Europa League quarter-finals in April 2022), after having scored 23 goals in their previous 12 matches.
